Get the Most Out of Your 2018 Ford Mustang GT, Including 0-60 Times Under Four Seconds

Along with the news that the 2018 Ford Mustang GT was getting engine upgrades and a whole bunch of new hardware for performance pleasure, one bit of news stood out to our enthusiast-brains. With the right equipment, the Coyote V8-powered pony car could hit sixty miles-per hour in under four seconds.

That’s not to say the 2018 Mustang GT isn’t quick. Port injection and other upgrades to the big block have returned improved output of 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. Along with standard line lock and Drag Strip Mode—the latter of which puts all that muscle at the forefront the whole way through the power band, it might come as a surprise that you can make this coupe even faster.

It’s possible, but manual transmission fans may be okay with skipping the first step, which requires the available ten-speed automatic transmission (we feel you). From there, equipping the GT Performance pack and Magneride Damping Suspension—the same as you’ll find on the Shelby GT350--will bring more aggressive tunings to the suspension, a rear differential, and continuous four-corner suspension adjustment for wild cornering dynamics.

But where that will send your track times soaring, the optional equipment list is home to even more goodies that can make a difference. Among them is the Active Valve Performance Exhaust, which comes with a “Quiet Mode” to lower the Coyote’s snarl to the level of your average dishwasher. Those looking for the available 12 inch Digital LCD Instrument Cluster with MyColor will find it alongside the Shaker Pro audio system.

With all these options, you might think that a nightmare awaits when it comes time to apply for financing. But don’t fret. With the help of the credit navigators at Rusty Wallace Ford, finding a lease or loan solution for your 2018 Mustang GT’s dream configuration might be closer to reality than you think.
